A selection of 12 pieces from the most famous Keyboard notebook in the history
of music, presented here as part of the Hal Leonard Student Piano
Library.
The Anna Magdalena Notebook is a particularly
intimate and unusual set of didactic pieces, composed by J.S. Bach as practice
material for his second wife. Such a notebook would have been commonplace in any
musical household, containing a large variety of music often transcribed by the
students themselves, and from which an initial repertoire would develop. By its
very nature, this set of pieces has become a vital source of information
regarding Keyboard teaching in the Baroque era, and especially regarding the
methods and thinking behind one of the world's greatest composers.
This
special selection, suitable for any early intermediate Piano student, has been
edited by Christos Tsitsaros, who performs all 12 pieces on the included online
audio.
